A little about what to expect

Initial contact

Once a referral has been received, usually via email, I like to respond within 24 hours to arrange an initial meeting. We’ll talk about the therapeutic approach and discuss hopes and expectations. Usually, sessions run once a week for 50 minutes (single session) or 1 hour group session,

There is a minimum of a 12 week block, with an additional 3 sessions which are used for the preparation of the ending of therapy, meaning a total of 15 sessions.

Session structure

Each session is 50 minutes in duration with some wiggle room at the end to provide the client with the opportunity to end their process for that session.

The session will be on the same day at the same time every week to offer consistency and predictability which will help gain trust in the therapeutic relationship.

Group sessions are 1 hour duration.

Ideally, it's beneficial to book at least 12-15 sessions but this can be discussed to suit the needs of the client and the family.

All equipment is provided and a comprehensive play therapy toolkit is made available to all clients, every week.

Referrals

Referrals can be received via many different routes e.g.

Privately from parents/legal guardians

School, usually from Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo.)

Local Authority
